Nigerian-British singer-songwriter and worship minister Joyce Ochelle—a highly respected voice in the UK Christian music community—returns with a deeply anointed new single titled “The Great I Am.” The song features the esteemed Pastor Mrs. Meque Eunice Bako of RCCG Victory Assembly, Sheffield.
Joyce, who currently resides in the UK with her family, has steadily risen to prominence as one of the most inspiring voices in contemporary Christian music. Rooted in her early years of singing in church, she continues to serve faithfully as Music Director in her local assembly. Her passion for God, combined with her powerful worship expression, has earned her recognition across the UK, USA, and Nigeria.
A two-time nominee for Song of the Year on the UK Christian Charts, Joyce Ochelle has also received three nominations in the USA’s Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards, including International Female Soloist of the Year. In Nigeria, she won Top Benue Gospel Artist of the Year at the ISADA Awards, further solidifying her growing international influence.
With four impactful singles already released—two of which reached No. 1 on the UK Christian Charts—Joyce now unveils her fifth single, “The Great I Am.” This deeply spiritual song was birthed from obedience, warfare, and personal transformation.
The inspiration came during a difficult season in Joyce’s life. After receiving a prophetic instruction to fast, pray, and wait for a song, she reluctantly obeyed. In that place of surrender, The Great I Am was divinely given. The song became her anchor—bringing healing, peace, and strength even as she faced intense trials during its completion. Its message stands as a bold declaration of God’s sovereignty, strength, and unwavering goodness.
Beyond her musical achievements, Joyce Ochelle holds a B.Sc. in Geography from Benue State University, Nigeria, and a Master’s Degree in Corporate Communication and Public Affairs from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. She is the daughter of Pastor James and Pastor Mrs. Elizabeth Idoko, and is joyfully married to Gabriel Ochelle, with whom she shares two beautiful children.
“The Great I Am” is a testimony, a worship anthem, and a reminder that God remains faithful—even in the most trying moments.
