Topic: David’s Five Killer Stones
Text: I Samuel 17:38-40, 45 NKJV
So Saul clothed David with his armor, and he put a bronze helmet on his head; he also clothed him with a coat of mail. David fastened his sword to his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.” So David took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand; and he chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag, in a pouch which he had, and his sling was in his hand. And he drew near to the Philistine.
Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
David was a smart young warrior who knew he was confronting a formidable soldier and champion from his youth, a soldier whom King Saul could not confront and none in the army of Israel could confront him. David knew he had to depend on the 5 Killer Stones to overcome Goliath. There was no way David could match the ability and strength of Goliath, he had to depend on grace. He chose 5 stones and the number 5 represents grace. When we are faced with challenges and battles bigger than us in life, we do not need the armor of Saul to confront these battles. Your breakthrough comes after defeating your confrontation. Running away from challenges defers your manifestation. Saul put his armor on David but David could not battle using the armor because he had not tried them. You cannot fight your battles wearing another man’s armor. You cannot defeat Goliath using another man’s weapons.
Grace is God’s ability in man’s disability. Grace is the help of God in a man’s life, it is divinity in humanity. Grace is God in the affairs of man. David confronted Goliath with grace and in the name of the Lord. 1 Samuel 17:45, come against your challenges and difficulties in the name of the Lord of Hosts. The name guarantees deliverance in life and destiny. The name gives victory over the battles and challenges of life.
When do you need grace?
Everyone needs grace when confronted with battles and challenges bigger than them. You need grace when the task is bigger than you. Do not run away from the big tasks, rather trust God for grace to confront the big task.
You need grace when your ability cannot handle the task before you. A man needs no grace to handle tasks within his ability, wisdom, strength, knowledge, credentials, and resources.
Grace is needed when there are many contenders for what you desire. You need grace to distinguish you and make you stand out.
Grace is needed in times of help. Grace is what you connect to when you need help. Hebrews 4:16 . You need grace when you need help. Everybody requires grace to carry out his assignments successfully.
David chose 5 smooth stillness which stood for grace and utilized one to bring down Goliath. The stone used by David was the stone of the name of the Lord. It was sufficient to bring down the giant. Philippians 2:9-10, The name of Jesus is the name above all names. The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runs into it and he is saved. Run into the name of the Lord, it is for your defense.
Prayer Focus
1. I confront my confrontations and challengers with the name of Jesus. I come against every pain, sickness, and situation in the name of Jesus. I bring them down in the name of Jesus
2. Let every Goliath of my destiny be destroyed today in the name of Jesus. I claim total victory today in the name of Jesus.
