Topic: Strength (Power) for the Journey ‘Contd
Text: Micah 3:8, Acts 1:8, Luke 10:19
There are two Greek words translated as power in the New Testament. The first word is the Exousia which speaks about authority, particularly the delegated one, the authority to use someone’s name or power. The other word translated power is Dunamis, which is the power to make things happen, power for accomplishment. This is the combination of things that God makes available in the place of prayers, in the study of the word of God.
Dimensions of Power
1. Power to stand: every great destiny and thing commences from rising. We must rise to achieve anything great in life. Isaiah 60:1, the Bible says arise and shine, the first word there is ‘arise’, until you arise, you do not shine. You must get up from the ground. You must break yourself free from the forces and powers that want you to remain the way you started. This is the force of gravity that wants to keep you the way you started. Genesis 37:7, Joseph was relaying his dream to his brethren. He said we were binding sheaves in the field and lo my sheaf arose and stood upright.
You cannot afford to start this year the way you ended last year. Start with something new. Acts 3:8, the man at the beautiful gate was asked to arise by Peter. God wants you to stand. It is my prayer that you will receive this dimension of power, so you will be able to stand in life and destiny, you will stand in the name of Jesus.
2. Power to take charge. God wants you to take charge of your life and that was why Jesus promised us power in Luke 10:19, Power to tread upon serpents and scorpions and over all the powers of the enemies. Jesus Christ knew that we would need this dimension of power to be in charge. He asked us to occupy till he returns, in other words, to take charge till He comes. He delegated power to us so we can take charge, to subdue kingdoms so you can exercise dominion on Earth. You shall receive power when the Holy Ghost has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto me. He wants you to be a witness.
3. Power to make an impact: Acts 3:2-6, when Peter addressed the lame man by saying “I don’t have silver or gold”, Peter was saying to this impotent man, I would rather make an impact. You must have to have something to offer your generation. Every man of impact is a man who has something to offer his generation and God empowers us for impact
Prayers
1. I receive the power to stand, arise, and shine.
2. I receive power to take charge. I take charge of my life, destiny, environment, business, and career. I take charge of my environment and circumstances. I will not be under the impact or influence of situational circumstances. I will be in control of my situation and of my circumstances. In the name of Jesus, I will tread upon serpents, scorpions, and over all the powers of the enemies. Nothing shall by any means hurt me in the name of Jesus.
3. I receive the power for impact. This year, 2024, I will be great. I will have something to offer my generation in the name of Jesus. I will not be surplus to requirements in life. I will be needed because I am loaded and God’s name will be glorified.
