Topic: Sleeping in the storm

Text: Mark 4:35-40, Matthew 7:24-27

Requirements for sleeping in the storm.

1. Have Jesus in your life.

2. A very strong foundation: your root in Christ must be deep. The foundation is Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 3:11, there is no other foundation apart from Christ Jesus. The foundation represents the word of God. Hearing, obeying and doing God’s word is building on the rock. This building withstands the challenges and the vicissitudes of life. At the foundation stage, you put in so much effort which is barely seen or not visible to the glare of others, so much effort that determines the strength of your building is put in. No building gets appreciated at the foundation level. You get noticed when the blocks or the super structure is being raised.

The same wind, rain and storm blew against the 2 men in our text. The same event happens to all. The outcome is however different depending on the kind of foundation that is built. 2 Kings 19:30, you must take roots downwards to bear fruits upwards. You can sleep in the storm if your foundation is deep and your roots are firm. Let your foundation in Christ Jesus be deep so that you can sleep in the storm. You will not easily succumb to pressure if your roots are deep. Feed on the word daily, Proverbs 24:13-14. Matthew 14, Peter walked on the word of God that asked him to come. You can also walk on the word if you have a strong foundation in Christ and His word.

Prayers

1. Father, let my foundation be deep and my foundation be firm in Christ Jesus and in the word.

2. Psalm 11:3, Father, let everything faulty in my foundation be repaired in the name of Jesus.

3. I receive the stamina to stand against the storms and the vicissitudes of life, I will not cave in or surrender in the name of Jesus.

4. I receive the grace to sleep like Jesus in the storms of life.
