Topic: The God we serve (God of light)
Text: James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of Lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
God is the God of light. There is no darkness or variableness with Him. Darkness is a major factor that hinders progress in any organization. Genesis 1:1-3. God came as light and addressed the darkness in the beginning by simply declaring “Let there be Light”, (Let there be God) and there was light. In any area where there is no light, where God is absent, there will be backwardness, unprogressiveness, and failure. Multinational organizations move out of areas where light is absent to areas where light is found. Light is essential for development, and progress.
A major reason for the backwardness experienced in Nigeria today is the absence of light. Despite the huge amount of funds invested in the generation and distribution of light, the nation can not boast of 24 hours of power supply all over the land. Any life, family, or organization that lacks light will not experience progress or advancement. 1st John 1:5, This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. This implies that God Himself is light and He makes light available. Any nation without light or energy indicates the absence of God despite the degree of religious way of life. God is absent in the lives of the leaders and followers. The presence of light would cause the leaders to lead with the fear of God. The citizens will also live and operate their lives and businesses in the fear of God.
Do you have the fear of God in your life? Do you blow out the light of others to shine? Do you destroy others to gain an advantage? If you perpetrate any of the above, then your life is pervaded in darkness. It indicates the absence of God in your life and also the fact that you are far from God. John 8:12: When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Are you living in darkness? Whatever contradicts God’s word is darkness. Sin is darkness. Matthew 5:14. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Are you the light of the world? Does your lifestyle reflect light and dispel darkness? This is what is expected of you as a believer.
There is no variableness or respect of persons with God. Romans 2:11: for there is no respect of persons with God. All good and perfect gift comes from God and He gives to all. What He does for one, He will do for another especially when the other has fulfilled the requirements for a miracle like the one who already received a miracle.
Prayer Focus
I pray that the Light of God shines on your path and that you won’t walk in darkness. I pray the Lord gives you good and perfect gifts that your destiny requires for your color to show. God will be gracious unto you and it will please Him to show you His mercy, to bless you, increase and multiply you in the name of Jesus. Those who work around you and with you will walk in the light of God and your employees will not destroy your business. The light of God will expose every unfruitful work around your life and destiny. The light of god will expose every worker of iniquity around you, those plotting to bring down your life and destiny will be exposed and disgraced in the name of Jesus. God’s blessings will be upon you as you walk in the light and honor the Lord. God bless you as you bless others in Jesus’ name. Amen.
