Topic: The thing (dream) is gone from me
Text: 1 Kings 3:19-20

And this woman’s son died in the night because she lay on him. So she arose in the middle of the night and took my son from my side, while your maidservant slept, and laid him in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom. And when I rose in the morning to nurse my son, there he was, dead.

In the text, we read of the story of 2 women who allowed sleep to take away their dreams from them. Sleep/slumber is another thing that could rob a man of his dream regardless of the extent of greatness or glory attached to the dream. Sleep is a state of inertia, inaction, or passivity. Proverbs 24:33-34; Yet a little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; And thy want as an armed man. A man with great potential and dreams loses his dreams due to inertia, sleep, and slumber. His prosperity was exchanged for poverty. May poverty and failure not be your portion. Inertia or inaction will rubbish a man’s destiny. Your dream of excellence and your glorious future will not speak in a state of inertia. Dreams and visions do not speak in the life of an idle man. You only see glory when you wake up. A man who talks about his dreams and does nothing about it can be considered as one who is asleep.

A man with a dream of getting admission who sits back wishing without registration in any institution cannot have his dreams actualized. He is asleep. A man who dreams of a prosperous life and does nothing to develop himself but sits back to fast and pray is asleep. Fasting and prayers have never been part of the prosperity equation. They may be part of the power equation, but you will be a powerful but poor Christian. Hard work and diligence are part of the prosperity equation. Don’t fold your arms and pray when you ought to be working. The two women we read about slept and their dreams were taken from them. Her child died when she slept so deeply and soundly and slept on her miracle, dream, and future. Her child was her glory and the picture of her future. She killed her future because of sleep and decided to play a fast one by replacing the living child of her neighbour. The other woman’s dream was exchanged because she was sleeping. The exchange becomes possible when you sleep. There are exchangers of glory and destiny everywhere and they will exchange the destiny of a man who is asleep. Your gold, glory could be exchanged with grass when you are asleep.

The Yorubas have a saying that sleep collects what a little child holds in his hands. Many people who are not children have been robbed of their vision by sleep, carelessness, inertia, sin, inactivity, and passiveness. These two women lost their dreams to sleep, one of them was permanent and the other was temporary. Don’t let sleep to the point of overlaying your dreams. Joseph insisted he had a dream and his dream must speak. When he had a small dream, his brothers quarrelled and hated him but he responded with a bigger dream. A wise man once said, do not make small plans or small dreams for your life, make great or big plans or dreams because the people you attract are dependent on the size of your dream. Dream big and place it in God’s hands and go to work not sleep. Paul said, “I laboured more than they all”. Be diligent with your dreams, desires, and vision. There was a time when God gave you a dream at night, It was an instruction, and you remembered it clearly, you were so sure that if you woke up and implemented this dream something amazing would happen in your life but you didn’t write it down immediately. you went back to sleep and completely forgot the dream. You have been yearning and longing to recall this dream for years. Your sleep has taken your dream from you but I pray that the God of restoration will restore that which you have lost and bring back the dream and instruction and your life and destiny shall experience advancement in the name of Jesus.
