Topic: The thing (dream) is gone from me
Text: Daniel 2:5
Your dream is the picture of your future or destiny. It is the inner conviction of the place that God is taking you to. It is the picture of your desires in specific aspects of your life. It is the expectation of your glorious destiny. God said I know the thoughts that I think towards you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end, a future, and a hope. God himself has a big dream for you, you must also have a big dream for yourself. God had a great dream of a land flowing with milk and honey for the children of Israel. He was going to bring them into the labours of others but the dream slipped off their hands because of fear. A man’s background can take his dream from him. Never allow your background to take away your dream. Everyone has a past that could represent your background. Your family name and the place of your upbringing are also representative of your background. I counseled a young man who was my church member for some years. He shared his dream of studying abroad with me but his parents could barely afford the expenses for his education in Nigeria. He insisted on going for his masters programme in the United States. I inquired to know his strategy to achieve his feat and he said he planned to get a scholarship after his first degree. This was indeed a beautiful dream. He did not give up on his dream despite his background. He graduated with a first class and got a scholarship to study abroad. He finished and got another scholarship for PhD.
What a joy that the God we serve is not a man that will ask for your antecedents or background before bringing you to glory and honour. He does not consult with your past before he determines your lifting. Paul had a very horrible past being a persecutor of the church, he killed very many. He witnessed to the murder of the first martyr, Stephen, Yet, God used him. He told the Philippians he was able to do this because he forgot the things that were behind and pressed on to new things ahead. Do not allow oppositions take away your dream. Every great dream will be opposed. Paul said, “A great door and effectual is opened to me but there are many adversaries”. Do not allow sin take your dream from you. Sin will sink you. If you do not find out your sin, it will find you out. Sin pushed Reuben to the backside of destiny. Sin took away Samson’s dream and his eyes as well. Do not allow bad association take your dream. Refuse to fraternize with a Jonadab. Do not journey with a Jonah. Do not allow your association take away your dream and always remember “Bad communication will always corrupt good manners”. Joseph did not allow his many troubles take away his dream from him. Romans 8:18; For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Here is a greater glory ahead of you if you will endure the suffering. Never allow financial lack stop the project. Go ahead without funds, funds will meet you along the way. Vision comes before provision. Catch the dream for yourself and God will make resources available for that project. Two women slept, one of them overlaid and killed her dream. The other woman’s dream, miracle was exchanged because she slept too much. Do not allow inertia and recklessness take away you dream.
Do not give up on your dream. It will speak. Remember, You were born naked but loaded. You came into this world with a clenched fist, holding your dreams in your hands. Do not give it up for any reason. Your dream is possible and achievable. Make up your mind not to give up. Your dream must and will speak. Joseph’s word came and his dream came to pass. When his brothers made obeisance to him, he remembered his dream. You will remember your dream when God brings it to fulfillment and may even shed tears as a result. Hold on to your dream, Though it tarries, it will speak and not lie.
Prayer Focus
1. Father, It is time, let my dream begin to speak and let it speak eloquently.
2. Father, Open heavens upon my life, my dream and my destiny. Send me dream interpreters. Let help and support be available for my dream.
3. I come against every power, force, attitude, tendency and habit that may want to take my dream from me. I come against you totally. My dream is not be to taken, exchanged or stolen. My dream will find expression and speak eloquently.
