Topic: Who and What not to Follow
Text: Mark 10:46

It’s imperative to be careful and circumspect about who or what you follow if you must get to your prepared place.

You must not follow the crowd. The crowd is not always right so you must not submit your destiny to public opinion. Public opinion had a short lifespan. Mark 10:46, Blind Bartimaeus was shouted down by the crowd but he did not listen to them and he got the attention of Jesus. The crowd that tried to stop him were the ones who asked him to be of God cheer. The crowd is inconsistent. Matthew 27:20, the multitude were persuaded to vote against a man of integrity for a murderer and thief.

Don’t follow mockers or scorners. Drop people who are not interested in what interests you especially the things of God. People mock you for being with God. For your sanity , avoid such people, Psalm 1:1. Mockers mock at your piety and good morals.

Don’t follow a man given to anger. An angry man is dangerous. Proverbs 22:24, anger is a destructive emotion if not put in check or controlled. An angry man destroys things in anger, one man once threatened to throw his 2 year old child in anger. An angry man must be avoided.

Prayer Focus
1. Father, I receive the spiritual and emotional stamina not to abdicate the driver’s seat of my life to public opinion.
2. Father, I will not seat in the seat of the scornful, I will not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, I will not stand in the way of sinners in the name of Jesus.
3. I break myself free from a man given to anger.
4. Father, this year is gradually winding to a close, I am for divine remembrance, visitation and blessings in the name of Jesus.
