Topic: Pursue your dreams
Text: Gen 37:3-8

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age. Also he made him a tunic of many colors. But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him. Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. So he said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.” And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.
Genesis 37:3‭-‬8 NKJV

Sometimes we feel uncomfortable when we receive certain favours because we have not learnt to receive favours. I challenge you this morning that it’s not your fault that you’re being favoured. Favour is not fair and it’s not your fault. Joseph was favoured above his brothers. It’s my prayer that you’ll enjoy unusual favour of the Almighty God. Verse 4 of our passage in consideration says his brothers hated him when they saw that their father lived him and could not speak peaceably to him. Joseph was hated for being favoured and I perceive this is the reason we are afraid of being favoured. When favour comes your way, don’t reject it, enjoy, receive, celebrate it and glorify God but do not flaunt your favour over the face of others.

My next point of interest is the dream of Joseph. I am asked to tell you this morning that your sheaves will arise. Joseph narrated his dreams to his brothers. Let me quickly warn you that those who do not have any dream will fight against you for having a dream. Those going no where wants you to accompany them. My counsel is that you spend your time well and do not associate with people without dreams. The brothers of Joseph had no dreams and that’s why they remained in their father’s house even after they had become fathers. It was even their father’s initiative to go buy corn from Egypt. They took no initiatives. A man without dreams will not move till he is pushed and will not move beyond where he is pushed. You must make up your mind to pursue your dreams. You must have a dream for your life and be prepared to put in whatever it takes to see your dreams come to reality. Do not be angry at the great dreams of your brother. Work on your dream. Joseph was strong in faith. He was affirmative of what God had shown him. He trusted God took make those things spoken and revealed concerning him to come to pass and he always confessed the things he had seen.

His brothers were angry because of his words and his dreams. Never allow the hatredb or unfriendliness of people without dreams distract you from your dreams in life. I see God cover your life and destiny with a tunic of many colours. I see God adding colour to your life and destiny, I see God clothe you with dignity and honour and I see God bringing your dreams to fulfillment by the power of His spirit. The Lord will cause you to stand out from among your peers and colleagues.

Prayer Focus
1. Father, clothe me with colour. Decorate my life, destiny with your tunic of colour, with the garment of glory and honour. Clothe me with your beauty.
2. Father, I rise beyond the hatred and negative criticisms of people around me. I rise beyond the oppositions of people around me, beyond the oppositions to my dreams and I decree the fulfillment of my dreams by the power of your spirit.
3. Father, let my dreams begin to find expression and fulfillment by the power of your spirit.
