Topic: My sheaf must arise
Text: Genesis 49:14-15

Joseph said we were in the field binding sheaves and behold my sheaf arose and stood upright. Your sheaves stood round about my sheaves and made obeisance, I am standing out in life and destiny, I am rising above the rest, not because of pride but by divine design. I have been designed to be the head and not the tail. To be above only and not beneath. God wants you to arise in life and destiny. This is the counsel of the Almighty God for your life and destiny. It is possible for everyone’s sheaf to arise based on the word of God in Zechariah 10:1, but the question we have been trying to answer is “What are the things that can hinder a man’s sheaf from rising despite the expectations and counsel of God over that man?”.

We identified inconsistency and immorality in Reuben, anger, and cruelty in Simeon and Levi. Another point to consider can be found in Genesis 49:14-15
Issachar is a strong ass Couching down between two burdens: And he saw that rest was good, And the land that it was pleasant; And bowed his shoulder to bear, And became a servant unto tribute.
Complacency is a major enemy of a man’s best in life and destiny. Satisfaction with one’s status quo, desire for pleasure as well as early satisfaction was identified in Isaachar. He was very strong but he did not leverage on the strength God gave him. He saw that rest was good and he became a servant to tribute. He found satisfaction in his immediate life. A man satisfied with his immediate will forfeit the ultimate. Don’t settle for immediate satisfaction at the expense of your glorious destiny. The message translation said he gave up his freedom and went to work as a slave. Don’t give up your freedom because where you are seems good, pleasant. The little success Isaachar achieved got into his head and he was okay, he did not press on anymore. Your good place is the enemy of your better place.

You must be persistent. Work hard continously and don’t allow complacency. Merriam Webster  defined complacency as a feeling of being satisfied with how things are. Do not be satisfied with how things are. The largest room in a man’s life is the room for improvement or development. Complacency is self satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual danger or deficiencies. A complacent man is unaware of actual danger coming ahead of him. A woman came to report her complacent husband, he was unwilling to make any improvement in life and destiny. They were living well in a 3 bedroom apartment, they both had good jobs, the wife suggested to the husband for them to buy a plot of land and commence building their own house.  The husband replied they were okay in their present apartment since the landlord wasn’t giving them any trouble. This is exactly how a complacent person thinks. He makes no improvement because there is no problem in the immediate, there is therefore no need to make plans for the future. Don’t be complacent. It is a major enemy that will not allow a man’s sheaf to arise.  I urge you to make improvements in your life. There is a need for you to improve on your destiny. Do something to make your life, business and ministry better. You may need to take a refresher course, attend trainings, etc. Don’t be like Isaachar who despite his strength he made no efforts to improve his life. leave the immediate and press on for the ultimate and the Lord will take you there.

Prayer Focus
1. Father, I break every hold of complacency. I refuse to be complacent. Everything that makes me complacent, I command it to lose its grip upon my life and destiny in the name of Jesus
2. I refuse to surrender my freedom, I refuse to give up, I refuse to work as a slave in the name of Jesus
3. Father, show me any area of my life where I am growing complacent and help me to make improvement
