Topic: Insights from Psalm 112:1

Text: Psalm 112:1

3 things stand out in the scripture considered today.
1. Blessing
2. Fear of the Lord
3. Obedience

Blessing: the blessings of the Lord make a man rich without adding sorrow. Blessing means empowerment to succeed. It connotes the favour of God upon a man that enhances results in life and destiny. The blessings of the Lord guarantee peace and put the enemies at bay. Blessing results in prosperity. It eliminates grief and sorrow.
Fear of the Lord: it is the beginning of wisdom, it means to depart from evil. It refers to reverential fear of the Lord and not some sort of trepidation before adversaries or tyrants. The fear of God makes obedience possible. Fear of the Lord is having God in great awe and being conscious of the His presence at all time. Ps 1:1. The man who fears the Lord receives the blessings of the Lord. The fear of the Lord is honour and worship of God
Obedience: an obedient man is one who relish and cherish God’s commandment. It’s difficult to obey one whom you do not fear. Obedience is key to eating the good of the land. You must delight in God’s law to be able to obey Him. You cannot obey the instructions you do not know.

In conclusion, the blessings of God comes upon the man who fears the Lord and worships the Lord. This is possible because He fears and obeys the Lord. Blessed, prosperous and happy is that man that worships, fears the Lord and gladly obeys the teachings of God.

Prayer Focus:

• Father grant unto me the grace to live in obedience to your word and your commandments
• Father, because I delight greatly in your commandment and I walk in your fear, let my life attract your blessings and favour.
