Topic: Be a Witness and a Leader
Text: Isaiah 55:3-4

Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader, and commander to the people.

God has made you a witness and a leader. Every believer must be a witness to the resurrection of Jesus Christ via his words, actions, attitude, and behaviour Acts 4:33. The reason we are given the Holy Ghost is to be a witness wherever we are found. You are expected to be a witness to the light of God that all men may believe through your light.

You have been given for a leader. God expects that you’ll stand out wherever you are found. You’re not expected to boss people around you, you are to lead them. You should not be a leader because of the title or position given to you. There are positional leaders, there are leaders who are occupying an office because of the title they bear but lack the ability and capacity to lead. There’s a lot of difference between a leader and a boss.

A leader builds confidence amongst his staff but a boss builds fear. A father or mother who is a boss at home creates fear in the hearts of the children. Such parents are losing their children rather than leading them. Some men create fear in the hearts of their wives, they are usually very wild with anger. Build confidence in your followers, spouse, children, and those you lead.

A boss says I. He is self-centered. A leader brings others into consideration. Be a leader, and involve the people. Teamwork makes the dream work. None of us is as strong as all of us. A boss knows how work should be done, a leader shows how a career should be forged.

A boss relies on authority, a leader relies on cooperation. A boss commands by the power vested in him but a leader relies on the cooperation of the people to get the work done. Leadership is all about influence. A leader influences the people to get the task done. He does not depend on authority. He does not insist on the authority given to him. Acknowledge and appreciate the processes, inputs, and efforts that have birth results. Don’t take the glory all alone, share with others because you worked together to achieve the feat.

Prayer Focus
1. Father, let my life positively impact people for your glory
2. Father, you have given me for a witness and a leader for the people, empower me to lead them well.
3. Father, help me to bring out the best in others around me. Help me to interpret their dream, help me to help others navigate their way to greatness in life
