Topic: Defeating your Giant
Text: 1 Samuel 17:34-35
David shared the testimonies of the past and he concluded by stating that the God who gave him the previous ones is the same God and he will resolve the present challenge. Always recall the previous testimonies of God’s wonders in your life or that of others in challenging times. Never be an ingrate. It’s in the little things and in lonely places that we prove ourselves capable of the big things. David proved he was able to face Goliath by the little things he faced in time past (the lion and the bear).
Champions are never made in the ring of play. They are made on the backside where no one sees or focuses on them. They are made on the field of rehearsals and revealed in the ring. What happens behind the scene determines the extent of greatness or mediocrity. What are the little things and lonely places in which proof of capability for big things is required?
Be faithful in little things: Luke 19:17Â , faithfulness in little things qualifies you for bigger things. The servant was considered as good because he was faithful. Unfaithfulness in little things will hinder your access to greater things. Your faithfulness with 5 members committed to you qualifies you for 50 and your faithfulness with 50 qualifies you for 500… No one will commit bigger things to you if you’re unfaithful in little things. The servant in the scripture above was given 10 pounds and he traded with it and doubled it, he was given 10 cities in return, he was given authority. Be faithful with the little things committed into your hands. Some people despise little things given to them and see it as condescending and belittling. They end up without good results and God will not commit bigger things to the hands of such people.
Be faithful in that which belongs to another: Â Luke 16:12, Â No one will give you your own if you’re unfaithful with what belongs to others. You must be faithful with the possessions of others committed to you. Have you been employed to work for someone? You must be faithful with the business of your employer for God to establish your own. Faithfulness to the belongings of others qualifies you for yours. There are a lot of people who were given assignments by others, rather than being faithful, they stole from their masters to start theirs. Such a business cannot thrive. If God gives you your possession because you were faithful with that of others, He will ensure that it prospers and grows in your hands, if you do otherwise, it will fail in your hands because you’re using your skill without God’s backing. Be faithful, don’t steal, don’t falsify documents for your gain.
Prayer Focus
Father, give me the grace to be faithful in little things and produce results.
Father, give me the grace to be faithful with that which belongs to another.
Father, let my faithfulness in little things and that which belongs to others qualify me for big and great things, help me to prove myself capable of the big things and let the big things prosper in my hands.
Father, I have been faithful in little and that which belongs to another, let your breath come upon what you have given to me and let it prosper in my hands
