Text: Matthew 6:9-13
Communication is the bedrock of any relationship including the type that exists between man and God. Communication is the starting point of every relationship and it sustains the relationship. Prayer is communion between man and God.
Talk to God: it’s important for a man to commune with his creator. Jesus thought us how to pray in the text. Luke 2:36-38, Anna was given to prayer, she talked to God everyday of her life. Talk to God, let him know your desires and how you feel, your pains and disappointment. No one can hide from God. God sees you and knows all things. Relate your situation to God just the way it is. Cornelius spoke to God always.
Let God talk to you (Bible study): It’s important to be given to the study of God’s word. Colossians 3:16, 2 Timothy 3:16. You’re built up and become profitable when God speaks to you. You’re corrected, reproved, instructed when God speaks to you to make you thoroughly furnished and equipped to all good works.
Talk to other believers (Fellowship): Hebrews 10:35, we talk to other believers in fellowship, we encourage and build up one another in fellowship. You must not forsake the fellowship of other believers. Luke 24:33-35, the disciples went to their company and shared their experiences that Christ had indeed risen from the dead. They strengthened one another.
Talk to unbelievers (Evangelism): 2 Timothy 4:2, you must constantly and daily preach the word. 1 Corinthians 9:16. There’s a necessity for us to preach the word of God.
Prayer Focus
1. Father, I receive the spiritual grace and stamina to talk to you daily in the place of prayer.
2. Father, give me understanding of your word. As I study the scriptures, speak to me.
3. I receive the grace never to forsake the assembly of believers.
4. I receive the grace to preach the word, to be instant in season and out of season.
5. Father, as I carry out these duties and responsibilities, I will be duly rewarded and my profiting will appear to all.
