Topic: Complements of prayers that make it productive
Text: Isaiah 58:6-11
Prayers produce results through faith. Hebrews 11:6. Another accompaniment that makes prayer productive is fasting. Fasting does not change God, rather it changes you and causes you to become conformed to the will and word of God for your life.
Benefits and blessings of fasting.
Fasting is very potent and makes prayers powerful. As a believer, you must set aside a time to fast weekly probably once or twice, to build up spiritual capacity, to increase your faith, and break the influence and power of the flesh over your life. Fasting is one of the divine ordinances of Christ to us believers to make our lives better.
1. Fasting guarantees the release or renewal of strength. Strength is either released or renewed unto you depending on your level of relationship with God. Luke 4:14. Jesus overcame temptations because he waited on God in fasting, fasting had subdued the flesh and enabled him say no to temptations. Isaiah 40:31. You cannot tap into the supernatural without waiting on God in the place of fasting and prayer. You must be able to set apart a day to fast. Fasting makes you spiritual and not sensual.
2. Fasting brings about the fulfillment of prophecies. There are prophecies hanging on the destiny of a man. 1st Timothy 1:18. The messianic ministry of Jesus did not find expression until He waited in the place of fasting and prayer. Elijah received a word for 3 men in 1st Kings 19:15-17. One was fulfilled almost immediately while the others were prolonged until 2nd Kings 9 when their words began to manifest. I pray every power prolonging your word will be consumed by fire and your word shall find expression.
Prayer focus
1. Father, I receive the strength and grace to wait on you, to subdue my flesh in the place of prayers and fasting.
2. Father, let spiritual strength be renewed unto me. Let stamina be released into me.
3. Let there be a performance of prophecies concerning me. I come against every power prolonging my word.
