Topic: The complements of prayers that make prayer potent
Text: Isaiah 58:6-14
We have established 2 major complements that make prayers potent: faith and fasting and yesterday we dwelt on the benefits of fasting. Fasting is important because:
1. It guarantees the release or renewal of power and strength.
2. It brings about the fulfillment of hanging promises.
3. It expedites answers to prayers. When you call, God will answer and when you pray, He will say “Here I am”.
Answers to your prayers come very quickly. Fasting makes things happen very fast in our lives.
4. It breaks yokes and sets free. The power of a yoke upon the destiny of a man can be broken through fasting. Isaiah 58:6, No yoke or burden upon a man can ever be broken without a fight, without a fast. Fasting subdues and breaks the dominion of the flesh over a man. Addictions can be broken through fasting. Fasting may not be only from food. A person who is addicted to his phone can do a fast from his phone. Fasting is simply doing
away with the thing that gives you pleasure. If you are standing in the gap for an addicted person, you also need to go on a fast.
5. Isaiah 58:8, it brings healing and health. Fasting causes healing to happen speedily, it causes our health to be intact and causes us to be vitally strong. Fasting is very important in organ detoxification and cleansing. Fasting goes beyond bringing spiritual benefits alone, it is also beneficial to our health. Wait on the Lord in fasting and clear up your system from accumulated junk.
6. It ensures divine guidance: Isaiah 48:11. It conditions you to be in tune with the voice of the Holy Spirit. Prayers with fasting opens the channels of your spirit and you get divine instructions when these channels are open and as a result, you are divinely guided.
You can also wait on the Lord in bible study to gain spiritual muscles and stamina. Choose a day to wait on the Lord in fasting and see the tremendous power that will be made available to you.
Prayer Focus:
1. Father, by the help of your spirit, let every yoke upon my life and destiny and every addiction be broken totally today.
2. Father, let my health spring up speedily. Let every form of infirmity drop off my life today.
