Topic: Pursuit: Necessities for the pursuit of purpose

We have been considering the subject of pursuit. Pursuit of purpose. Purpose is central to fulfillment in life. Purpose is the reason for a man’s existence or living. A man who has not found purpose is merely existing while a man who has found his purpose is the man that can be said to be truly living. Purpose that is not pursued will end up a mirage. To pursue purpose means taking practical and pragmatic steps in the direction of your divine purpose. That is pursuit and destiny. Pursuit is running with a vision and running to obtain. Pursuit is pressing towards the mark like Paul said, I press towards the mark for the price of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Pursuit is trading your talent, selling your wares. Pursuit is striving to possess your heritage.

1. A strong root or foundation. The man that will pursue and fulfill his purpose must be a man that has a very strong root or a very deep foundation. 1 Corinthians 3: 11, the word of God says, for other foundation can no man lay than that that is laid which is Christ Jesus. Christ Jesus is the foundation for pursuit. Your foundation in Christ must be very strong than that which is laid for you to pursue purpose and fulfillment. It must also be understood that foundation or root is essential, very germane to the destiny of a man. You must go for root before you start bringing out or bringing forth your fruit.
2 Kings 19:30, the word of God says and the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward and bear fruit upward. In other words, you must grow down before you start growing up. And so the man that will pursue his purpose must be a man who has taken his root down. He has grown deep. That is the man that can now start bringing forth fruit. So do not attempt to bring forth fruit until you have grown your root.
Your root determines your strength. It determines the stability and the durability of your destiny. The stability, durability, and strength of every tree is determined by its strong root.
Take root in God’s word. Take root in your fellowship with other believers. You must fellowship with God in the place of prayers and the place of the study of God’s word. You must also fellowship with other saints and other believers if you must take root in God.

In Matthew 7:24-27, we read the story of the two builders.
Jesus told his story. A man who hears the word of Jesus and practices the same is a man who builds his house on the rock. And when the challenges of life or the vicissitudes of destiny will beat against the house, this man’s building will stand firm.
This man is compared to another man, a foolish man, a man who does not practice the word of God. Maybe he hears, maybe he does not hear. But the bottom line is that he does not practice the word of God. The Bible says the man who heareth this thing and does not do them, this man hears, but he does not practice the things that he hears. This man is foolish. He builds his own house upon the sand, when the rain descends and when the floods of life come and the winds blow, this house will fall flat because it is built on sand. Don’t build your house on sand. In other words, let there be a very strong foundation, a very deep root for the destiny you are pursuing.

The desire in the heart of God that He is communicating to you through me, is that your root in God must be deep. Your root in God must be strong. Your foundation in God must be firm. That foundation is found in Christ Jesus.
That foundation, that root is found in the word of God that you hear and that you practice. That root, that strong foundation is established in your relationship and fellowship with other believers in Christ Jesus.

That is the reason why you must not isolate yourself from the fellowship of the believers. Do not separate yourself from fellowship with other saints so you can deepen your faith and deepen your root in God and your foundation in Christ.

Be firm, be solid, so you can stand against the challenges of life. The question we need to ask is, why is this route important in pursuing your destiny? You must understand that the rains of life will always fall. You must know that there will always be floods in destiny and that the winds of life will always blow. You must understand that there will always be heat in life. A man whose foundation is deep and who is pursuing his purpose is the man who will be able to withstand such vicissitudes of life when they come. On the other hand, for a man whose foundation is not deep in God, when these challenges of life come, he will fall very flat.

It is my prayer that as you study God’s word, that as you pray, that as you fellowship with other believers, with your relationship with God through Christ Jesus, your root will become deeper and stronger. Your root will be stronger, your foundation will be firm, and no vicissitude of life will be able to throw you off balance.

Prayer Focus
1. I receive the spiritual stamina and the strong root to withstand the challenges and the vicissitudes of life in the name of Jesus.

2. I stand firm in Christ Jesus, and I declare that the rains of life will not sweep me off my feet. The floods of life will not wash me away, the winds of life will not blow me off. In the name of Jesus.

3. Father, let my root in you be deeper and deeper. Let me be stronger and stronger. In the name of Jesus, our Father, I pray, let my root in you be deeper and deeper.

4. Father, let me begin to bring fruit upward in the name of Jesus. As I take root downward, let me begin to bear fruit. Let my life be fruitful. Let my destiny be fruitful and productive as I pursue my purpose in life, let my root enhance my pursuit. Let my root strengthen me in my pursuit. Let me run and obtain. Let me be victorious in life.

I pray in the name that is above all names that the Lord will give you spiritual strength and stamina, and that you will be able to withstand the pressure, the challenges, and the vicissitudes of life. I pray that your life, your destiny, shall be like that man whose house is built on the rock. When the challenges of life will come, you will not fall, and you will not fail, because your root in Christ Jesus is strong. That root will enhance your pursuit. In the name of Jesus, you will run. You will obtain, you will run. You will win. You will arrive at the place that God has destined for your life. I pray that your fruit will benefit mankind. Amen.
