Topic: The thing (Dream) is gone from me
Text: Daniel 2:5
The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.
Nebuchadnezzar had a dream which was gone from him. A man’s background, opposition, and sin have been considered as factors that could take a man’s dream from him. God will always prepare you for the place he has prepared for you. Sin robbed Adam and Eve of their prepared place drove them out of the garden and brought the entire human race into problem.
Bad Association: Every man’s association in life determines his destination. Who you company with determines what accompanies you in life and destiny. The question is, Who are your friends? If you make a list of the 6 closest persons to you, critically analyse this list, you have the picture of your future. You become like the people you relate with. Proverbs 13:20, he that walks with wise men shall be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Message translation puts it this way: Become wise by walking with the wise, hang out with fools, and watch your life fall to pieces. Don’t allow fools ruin your life and destiny. You will be broken if you keep company with fools. You will be destroyed when you are company with fools because you become like the people you relate with. Change your friends. Change association if you have friends who think or acts like a fool to avoid being ruined in life and destiny.
Bad friends and associations make his dream go from him. A man who companies with bad friends will have his glorious dream slip away from him. Many of us were introduced to bad things by friends and we did these things to fuse or blend with the trend. I almost lost it and maybe you almost did as well. When a man wants his life changed, he simply needs to change his friends. It is that important. Psalm 1:1: Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. A man whose dream will be fulfilled must not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of the scornful/mockers. Scorners/mockers are those who talk light of anything you esteem highly. They look down, talk down on who or what you look up to and admire. They scorn the things of God and pastors. They must be avoided as much as possible.
2 Samuel 13, Amnon was David’s eldest son who had an eye on taking the throne. He ought to have been king after his father’s demise according to Jewish laws and traditions. His dream became truncated firstly because of sin. He sinned because of his bad friend Jonadab, who gave him the wrong counsel which he implemented and forced his half-sister, Tamar to bed. That was the beginning of his end. A death sentence was passed on Amnon by Absalom. He died while he was still alive. His dream left him till he was eventually killed 2 years later by Absalom. Quickly drop any friend that encourages you to do evil, covers your sin, tracks, and even applauds you for these wrongs. Avoid anyone who encourages you to do evil because it’s in vogue. Avoid a friend who will not confront you for wrongdoing. You cannot journey with a Jonadab and a Jonah. A Jonah will bring you untold losses. 1st Corinthians 15: 33: Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character (CEV). I plead with you that you drop every bad influence around your life and destiny if you want your dream to speak eloquently and find fulfillment. Your Association determines your Destination. Making the right choice of association is a decision that is solely yours. Look into your life, critically analyse your company, and decide based on your analysis.
Prayer Focus
1. Father, I receive the grace to drop off my life, every friend who is not going in my direction in Jesus’s name. I receive the grace not to journey and fraternize with Jonah.
I pray that the Holy Spirit makes you restless till you have dropped everyone who is not going in your direction. The grace to drop every familiar friend who is not heading in your direction is released to you now.
