Topic: The thing (Dream) is gone from me
Text: Daniel 2:5
The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.
When a man’s dream is gone from him, he merely exists and does not live. You must hold on tenaciously to your dream to see the fulfillment of that dream.
Affliction: Affliction is a major enemy that has caused men to give up on their dreams. Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivereth him from them all. Many people have given up on their dreams because they could not wait for God’s deliverance. Do not let affliction take your dream from you. Psalm 105:17-19. He sent a man before them, Even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: Whose feet they hurt with fetters: He was laid in iron: Until the time that his word came: The word of the LORD tried him.
This is the episode of the life of Joseph till his word came. He had a dream, binding sheaves with his brothers, his sheaves arose and stood upright, and his brothers’ sheaves arose and made obeisance to him. He was hated by his brothers for this dream. Never allow hatred or opposition to stop you from dreaming or make you give up on your dream. Joseph went on to dream again and this time he had a bigger dream where the sun, moon, and 11 stars bowed to him. This was the dream of dominion, greatness, and excellence which he had for his life and destiny. Rather than his brothers bowing to him or the fulfillment of this dream, they bound him, took his coat of many colours, and dumped him in a pit without water. His pleas to his brothers to set him free went on deaf ears. What an affliction. They brought him out from the pit and this time sold him for a slave. They watched him embark on a journey of miles to a foreign land in Egypt. Joseph found himself handling chores in Potiphar’s house yet he did not give up on his dream. He was lied against and kept in the prison of the king where the king’s prisoners were kept. A man with a dream of dominion found himself in prison. Everything left him. He was taken from his father, his brothers left him, and his coat of many colours was taken from him. His mother left him much earlier. everyone and everything but his dream left him. He languished in affliction, pain, rejection, and unfulfilment for 13 years. His dream did not find expression until the 13th year. Can you endure pain, affliction, and suffering for as long as 13 years? Paul said, In all this, we are more than conquerors. This should be your attitude when you face afflictions. God is using the pains, affliction, or suffering to prepare you for the glorious place he has prepared ahead of you. God does not waste pain. When you have suffered a while, God brings you to glory. Romans 8:18; For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed in you. Do not give up your glorious dream because of affliction. Afflictions are common to all men of greatness. The psalmist said, “I would have gone astray if I had not been afflicted”.
Lack: Financial lack in particular can take a man’s dream from him. A man started a building project started with the foundation but unfortunately ran out of funds probably because he lost his job and could not continue. He sold the project because of lack. You may have experienced this but you will not experience it anymore. Never give up your great dream because of lack. I pray that no lack will be able to stop you from fulfilling your dream in life and destiny. Every dream must be funded. Every vision requires provision. A lack of provisions could make a visioner or dreamer lose his dream. Find a way to make your dream happen. It may take a longer period or years but do not give up your dream. Provision follows the vision and not the other way around. You don’t determine a vision or dream because you have provision. It is vision before provision. Get that dream for your self and God will make provision available. As you press on with your dream despite a lack of resources, God will make helpers available to help you bring it to pass. You can make smaller units of your big dream happen if you can’t make the big dream happen now. Take it one step at a time. God will cause your glorious dream to come together, and find fulfillment in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Focus
1. Father, I receive spiritual stamina and strength to press on in the face of opposition and affliction. Let my dream find fulfillment despite the opposition and affliction. I receive the grace not to give up on my dream but to watch it come to fulfillment.
2. Father, Let my word come, the word that will swallow every affliction, that will bring my dream to fulfillment. Let my word come after the order of Joseph.
3. Father, Do not let my dream lack resources or my vision lack provision.
