Topic: Keys for obtaining the promises of God
Text: 2 Peter 1:2-4
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Grace, peace and knowledge are very important for a man who will obtain any promise from God. There are great things God has in mind for you and knowing how to possess them is vital. God is a God God, He is a God of promises and fulfillment, you’re a child of promise and the promises of God never fail. These are vital truths to assessing and obtaining what God has made available to you.
Keys required to obtain the promises of God
1. Obedience: Deuteronomy 6:2-3
God promised to give a land flowing with milk and honey to the children of Israel. He made great promises to them and the Bible states that a major key to obtaining these great promises is obedience. The provisions of God are conditional upon obedience to principles that are connected to the provision. God is a God of principles. Deuteronomy 28:1-2.
God’s promises are premised on obedience. Isaiah 1:19. Parents are excited and happy when their children are obedient to instructions and directives. They do whatever they want for them and grant them their desires. An obedient child gets the blessing of his father, the same applies to God. You can’t be breaking the principles of God and expect His promises to find expression in your life. You can’t be breaking principles and claiming promises. All disobedience can only be avenged when obedience is complete.
2. Faith: Luke 1:45
There will only be performance of promises if you have faith. Faith is essential to connect to the things God has given you. It is impossible to please God without Faith. Faith is your confidence in the testimonies of the scriptures, and God. Faith is your ability to believe, trust and depend totally on the promises of God and see them come to fulfillment in your life. Galatians 3:14. The blessings of Abraham are received through faith. Faith is major to obtaining the promises of God. Hebrews 11:33
3. Grace and favour: Psalm 102:13; Psalm 44:3
The children of Israel obtained the promised land because of the favour of God, the light of God’s countenance, and the right hand of God. God favoured them. A man not enjoying the favour of God will continue to languish and after a while, he gets frustrated and disappointed. The favour of God delivers the land to us and not ability, strength, might or power.
Prayer Focus
1. Father, I receive the grace to walk with you in obedience, the grace to live in obedience that I may enjoy the good of the land.
2. Father, strengthen my faith to take delivery of your promises for me in the name of Jesus.
3. Father, surround my life and destiny with your grace and favour, let your grace and favour deliver my desires to me.
Declare This day and always, I walk in obedience, I am guided by the Spirit of the Lord. I do not live in disobedience. I obey the dictates of the spirit. I walk by faith and not by sight. My faith in God is strong. I declare by faith, let ways and doors be opened for me. I am graced and favoured. The light of God’s countenance is shining on me. Men and women favour me. Organisations favour me. My destiny is favoured. My proposals, scripts and submitted bids are favoured. I am highly favoured and I come to testify in Jesus name. Amen.
