Gospel Music Director, Awipi has teamed up with dynamic vocalist King David JPLC and record label Boss Mama Tee for the remake of “ELONGA”.
Elonga means “Jesus, You’re the winner man.” It is a song that was first performed by the Benson Idahosa University Choir in 2009. The song talks about Christ’s victory and how Jesus is the winner man in every situation. When Jesus shows up for us, He always causes us to triumph, to win every battle and situation in our lives. So, He fights for us and empowers us to win.
According to Awipi, “Elonga was a song I heard while I was preparing for a ‘Take the Lead’ concert with the Benson Idahosa University. It was done by Benedicte Muad Kashama, from Congo. I heard her singing the song and loved it. We talked about the song and I asked if she would be okay with us using it for the upcoming recording. I also asked her what it would cost to use her song, we negotiated and came to an agreement. We revamped the solo and the style of the song to the Elonga version we now know, recorded and released it”.
It is a very inspiring song that shows the power of believing and the power that we can live the victorious life as long as we have Jesus. Whatever way we experience life situations, we always come on top because we, through Jesus, continue to be victorious.
