Topic: The God of Covenant
Text: Luke 1:5-11

The Bible gave us a description of the lifestyle of Zechariah and Elizabeth, they were both blameless before the Lord, walking in his ordinances and commandments. They were righteous but unfortunately, they had no child. This implies that being born again does not exempt you from certain challenges of life. There will always be challenges in life. The distinguishing factor between a believer and an unbeliever amid challenges is faith in God, that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. Whatever you are going through at the moment will work out for your good. God is aware of all that you are going through. He is your father, maker, He is omnipotent and omniscient which means He has all power and knowledge. He understands all perfectly.

The meaning of Zechariah is “Remembered by Jehovah or God remembers” and Elizabeth means “The daughter of an oath or the daughter of covenant. This daughter of Covenant got married to this man, that Jehovah remembers. And yet it appeared that they were not remembered at all. You must understand that you are not forgotten. God does not forget anyone of his own. You are tattooed in the hands of the Almighty God. You are the apple of his eyes. No matter what you are going through, God has not forgotten you. He will remember your sacrifices, prayers, and seed, and he will come through for you. You are the daughter of oath and the child of covenant. Your father is a covenant keeper.

The amazing thing about this couple is that they relied on God and did not seek alternate solutions to their challenge. Never look for an alternative to God. There is no alternative to God. God is God. He will forever be God. There’s a covenant relationship between you and God. He will always remember his covenant and he will come true for you. God is not bound, neither is he limited by time. This couple were both stricken in age, they were old, and they had no child because Elizabeth was barren. They were old, yet trusting God for the fruit of the womb. God is the author of time. And your time is not far spent, Your time is not gone.

The blessings that this couple waited for came to them while Zechariah was at his duty place. He did not turn his back against God, he continued to serve the Almighty God with all his heart. The angel met him at his duty post when he brought his message of good news to him. Will God meet you at your duty post when he sends your angel to you? Remain at your duty post. How dutiful are you in the things of God, or have you allowed your predicament, challenges, or trouble to overwhelm you? Let God always find you at your duty post.

Prayer Focus
1. Father, remember and have respect for your covenant with me in the name of Jesus.
2. My father, remember me and come through for me in the name of Jesus.
3. Father, give me a miracle that will turn things around in my life and cause my reproach to be taken away
4. I will stay at my duty post, I will be found at my duty post, come what may, I will not stray away from your presence.
