Topic: My sheaf will arise
Text: Genesis 49:3-4
“Reuben, you are my firstborn, My might and the beginning of my strength, The excellency of dignity and the excellency of power. Unstable as water, you shall not excel, Because you went up to your father’s bed; Then you defiled it— He went up to my couch. Genesis 49:3-4.
Reuben defiled his father’s bed, he lost it, he couldn’t control his appetite so he missed it. Inconsistency and immorality are two major enemies that can hinder a man’s sheaf from rising as we have seen in the life of Reuben. The bible in basic English says “because you were uncontrolled”. He was uncontrollable as a flood. You have to be consistent in all that you do. Abandoning a project to start other ones shows marks of lack of direction in life. A man without purpose in life will be inconsistent. He will live his life based on trial and error. There is no way an inconsistent man can excel, you cannot plant a seed today and go to exhume it then replant it and check it again to produce result. A lot of people are living their lives this way, Inconsistently.
I encourage you to stick to whatever God has called you to do. If it does not produce results now, it will soon produce results, stick to it. Do not give up your purpose for anything in vogue. Once you are sure that what you are doing is God’s intention for your life, do it often and often. A new business will take about 18 months to produce results. Don’t give up in the 17th month, wait for the 18th month. Yours may even be more than 18 months, it will definitely produce results. The world will soon hear about you but stick to your purpose, pursuit. Do not be another Reuben.
Immorality: This is not unconnected with his unruly and uncontrollable lifestyle. You must be able to control your sexual appetite. This can hinder a man’s sheaf from rising. Your sheaf will arise but you must be able to control your appetite. Do not allow your loins and groins to destroy your destiny. Put yourself in check. Put your appetite in check. This Reuben could not do and he earned himself a curse. His sheaf was kept permanently on the ground because of the curse placed on him by his father. He earned it because he walked into it. If there is any negative lifestyle you have walked into due to your uncontrollable lifestyle, walk out of it, God desires your sheaf to rise. Walk out of that mess you are presently. God sees it and He knows it but He is waiting for you to turn back from that immorality, inconsistent lifestyle and unruly behaviour. He wants your sheaf to arise. Don’t forget, He is willing to give rain to every one sheaf in the field.
Another reason a man’s sheaf may not arise is seen in the life of the 2 next sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi. “Simeon and Levi are brothers; Instruments of cruelty are in their dwelling place. Let not my soul enter their council; Let not my honor be united to their assembly; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will they hamstrung an ox. Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce; And their wrath, for it is cruel! I will divide them in Jacob And scatter them in Israel. Genesis 49: 5-7.
Anger and cruelty can destroy a man’s destiny and prevent his sheaf from rising. Don’t be cruel to people you should show mercy. Some are so cruel, hard and mean that they do not give any favour or help. They might not get it as well when they need it . Anger destroys many more things that start the anger in the first place. Deal with anger in your life before it deals with you. Do not be cruel to anyone. Deal with anger, do not allow anger to deal with you, anger is destructive, do not allow it to destroy you. What you have been building in several years can come crumbling in one day due to anger. Deal with anger. “Änger rests in the bosom of fools” and you are not one.
Prayer focus
1. Father, let every tendency in me that could prevent my sheaf from arising be totally destroyed in the name of Jesus
2. Father,, I receive the grace to stick to my vision, my dreams, purpose in life and destiny and not to give up but see it come to fulfillment
3. Sin will not have dominion over my life and destiny. I break every appetite for sex, immorality will not have dominion over me.
4. Father, let my sheaf arise, let my destiny arise. Let me begin to soar to the praise and glory of your name
