Topic: The thing (Dream) is gone from me
Text: Daniel 2:5

The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.

A man is born naked but not empty. He is born with a clenched fist holding on to his dreams. Growing up, every young boy is a medical doctor, a lawyer, an astronaut, an engineer, etc. As he grows, certain things begin to take his dream from him.

What can make a man’s dream go from him?

Sin: 1st John 3:8
Satan came subtly into the garden and he brought sin along with him. Sin caused Adam and Eve to lose their golden dream and place given to them by God likewise everyone was born of a man and woman. Romans 3:23: For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The wonderful dream we all held when we were born was lost to sin in Adam. Adam sinned from the beginning so everyone sinned in Adam and died in Adam. Reuben was the firstborn of Jacob. He was to be given the blessing of the firstborn but he lost this golden opportunity to sin when he could not control his sexual appetite by defiling his father’s bed. He was no longer reckoned as the firstborn but was listed among the last. Joseph did not allow sin to rob him of his dream. He had a dream of dominion. He had lost his coat of many colours to his brothers who hated him for his dreams but Joseph was not going to lose his dream to anything, not even Potiphar’s wife. He said, How can I do this great wickedness and sin against God? He understood the strategy of the devil which is constant. His tactics against Achan was sin. Achan saw, took, and he died. The devil pushes sin at us and closes our eyes to the dream of greatness and glory. A man has to make a choice between his appetite and his glorious destiny. It is important to say no to sin to avoid being robbed of your glorious destiny. Many great men in record time forfeited their glorious destiny because of sin. Satan is still working assiduously to ensure men of greatness fall very cheaply and sell their dreams to the devil/sin.

Sin deceives and has never been able to deliver anything it promised. Sin promised Adam and Eve that they would be like God, unfortunately, sin could not deliver on its promise. He that sins is of the devil.
Sin defiles. There is hope when you cry to God in repentance. Forgo that sin. He that covereth his sin shall not prosper but he that confesses and forsakes his sin obtains mercy. You can get back your dream if you confess and forsake that sin. A man who progresses in his sin becomes deadened to sin. His conscience becomes dead and is no longer pricked by the Holy Spirit. He is no longer convicted by the Holy Spirit.
Sin destroys. Don’t let that sin destroy you. Give it up. The Bible encourages us to lay aside every weight and the sin that easily besets us. Certain sins easily beset us. We need to lay aside such sins so that our glorious destiny will not be destroyed. It is your responsibility to identify the sin the enemy intends to utilize in robbing you of your glorious destiny. The devil cannot trap a man except by what he loves.

The South African farmers had a problem with baboons. They will always come into their farms and destroy their plantations. The farmers realized that baboons love to eat pumpkin seeds. They bore a little hole small enough for the baboon to force its hand into the pumpkin fruit. The baboon came and forced its hand into the pumpkin and scooped some seeds. The baboon’s fist is clenched and becomes difficult to pull out its hands. The baboon continues to struggle to bring out its hand and the struggle continues till dawn when the farmers and hunters come to kill the baboon. All the baboon needed for its freedom was to drop the pumpkin seeds clenched in its fist and remove its hand from the pumpkin. The baboon is unfortunately not ready to give up on the seed because it is his pleasure. You are not a baboon and you can reason. God is saying to you, that there is a need to give up the sin you are holding on to. Give it up before it destroys your destiny or takes your dream from you. Give it up. Find out your sin if you don’t want it to find you out. A little leak in your life can sink your great ship. Don’t allow the ship of your destiny to be sunk. Don’t let sin take away your dream from you.

Prayer Focus
1. Confess every known sin in your life. Father, I confess every known sin in my life today and I ask for your forgiveness.
2. I refuse to give up my dream to sin. Like Joseph, I say no to sin and its allurement.
3. I receive the grace to lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily besets me. I receive the power and enablement of the Holy Spirit to say no to sin when the temptation comes. For the grace of God that brings Salvation has appeared to me, teaching me to say no to ungodliness.
